Ronald Meyvisch

Technical Media Consultant

Independent Expert in Broadcast, IP & Software-Defined Media Production

Helping media companies design, build, and evolve future-proof production infrastructures.

For more than 35 years, I have worked at the forefront of media technology—starting with analog video and tube cameras, through HD and file-based workflows, to today’s UHD, HDR, SMPTE ST-2110 IP, and software-defined production environments.

I have supported broadcasters, rights holders, and media service providers worldwide, evolving from hands-on engineer to CTO and C-level executive. Today, I work as an independent technical media consultant, helping organizations make informed, technically sound decisions in an industry that never stands still.

What I Do

I help media organizations translate strategy into working systems—from early-stage concepts to operational reality. My work combines deep technical knowledge with real-world operational and management experience.

Whether you are:

  • a broadcast or media technology vendor,
  • a service provider or systems integrator, or
  • a start-up building disruptive production workflows,

I support you with clear technical direction, structured execution, and independent expertise.

Services & Expertise

Technical Consultancy for Media & Broadcast

I provide independent technical advice to help you select, design, and deploy modern production architectures. My expertise includes:

  • UHD & HDR production workflows
  • SMPTE ST-2110 IP infrastructures
  • NDI and hybrid IP/SDI environments
  • Remote and distributed production
  • Cloud and hybrid production models
  • Software-defined production systems
  • 5G and next-generation contribution technologies

I also actively follow emerging frameworks and specifications such as IPMX, DMF (Dynamic Media Facility), MXL (Media eXchange Layer), and OGraf, which are shaping software-centric broadcast facilities.

Technical Project Management

I lead complex media technology projects from concept definition to delivery.

My approach is hands-on and pragmatic. Depending on the project, I apply Agile or Waterfall methodologies, always remaining directly involved in engineering, system integration, and configuration.

Tools and methods I regularly use include:

  • Visio for system concepts and architecture diagrams
  • Gantt-based planning for linear project phases
  • Airtable (or similar platforms) for task and sprint management
  • NetBox for documentation and design of IP-based SMPTE 2110 networks

Technical Writing & Documentation

Clear documentation is critical for reliable operations and long-term system value.

I create:

  • Technical specifications and system documentation
  • User manuals and operational guides
  • Release notes and training syllabi
  • Project reports for internal and external stakeholders

I work with Adobe RoboHelp to maintain a single source of truth and publish content in multiple formats, including PDF, Frameless HTML, and standard HTML, depending on your delivery needs.

Tender Processes (RFI / RFP)

I support RFI and RFP processes for broadcast and media facilities such as:

  • TV and sports production centers
  • Master Control Rooms (MCR)
  • OB trucks
  • Media and post-production facilities

My work includes:

  • Defining functional and technical requirements
  • Establishing evaluation criteria and scoring methodologies
  • Creating pricing matrices and comparison models
  • Producing detailed tender documents supported by concept diagrams

I adapt quickly to existing procurement frameworks and help organizations identify the best-fit supplier, not just the lowest bid.

Market Research & Strategic Analysis

I support innovation and strategic positioning through:

  • Brainstorm and vision workshops
Independent moderation to challenge assumptions and unlock new ideas.
  • Start-up evaluation and coaching
Unbiased technical and market assessment for early-stage media technology concepts.
  • Research
Conducting market exploration through interviews with key industry players, surveys, and polls, and compiling the results into whitepapers, presentations, and executive summaries.

Panel Moderation & Interviews

I moderate panels and conduct interviews on media technology topics, including:

  • Topic and speaker research
  • Panel and interview preparation
  • Moderation and discussion leadership
